Justice Alliance of Merced
Statement of Purpose
The Justice Alliance of Merced (JAM) is an alliance of Merced County based grassroots political organizations
that have joined to empower the progressive political presence in Merced County. Our members are listed to the
right of this statement, and you are encouraged to contact any of the groups that interest you. JAM is comprised
of student and community organizations throughout Merced County working to support a wide variety of social
justice and environmental struggles. We see ourselves as part of an international movement for global justice.
We believe in building relationships of solidarity between and among local organizations and across the world.
We understand that there are important connections between the local issues that we work on, and we believe that
by acting together we have more power to create social change.
We also appreciate the distinct differences between us, as no organization belonging to JAM necessarily agrees
with all aspects of any of the other member organizations, nor does the organization JAM necessarily agree with
or officially endorse any position or action of any member organization.
By working together we can create a world based on the principles of international solidarity, justice, peace,
sustainability, dignity, equality, human rights, and democracy.
Thank you for visiting our Web site. If you belong to a group that you beleive would fit in our alliance please
contact Keith Law through the "Students For Social Justice" link to the right, or send a note to: JAM, c/o Keith
Law, PO 3172, Merced, CA. 95344.
Aside from the "home page" that you are presently reading this site consists of a news link, a link to our calendar
of events, a message board, and a link to our photo album. In the news section we highlight an important issue that
is currently being addressed by one of our organizations. Feel free to enter the debate in the comments section of
that link. The calendar should allow you to find out about important events relative to all of our member groups.
The Justice Alliance of Merced meets bimonthly for a pot luck, and we produce a concert at the Bandstand (MOAT) at
Appelgate Park each Spring. We accept donations simply to cover the costs of maintaining this web page and producing
the concert.
